NAFA Expands Air Filter Specialist Program
By Jim Rosenthal, 1/27/2006

Only Filter Certification now open to all individuals interested in air filters and indoor air quality.

The National Air Filtration Association has announced the expansion of its Certified Air Filter Specialist (CAFS) program. This certification is the only one of its kind, designed to ensure that the holder has a sound knowledge of the the principles of air filtration and air filters.

Until this fall the CAFS designation was only available to candidates employed by NAFA member organizations. At the association's annual meeting in September, the NAFA Board of Directors voted to remove this prequalification from the accreditation. All individuals are now eligible to apply for the CAFS, pass the exam and become certified.

"The Board felt that expanding the Certified Air Filter Specialist program was a way to grow the knowledge of air filters and their proper uses," said Dave Goss, president of NAFA and a certified air filter specialist. "Air filters are an integral and important part of any HVAC indoor air quality system," he said. "Consumers - whether they be business owners or home owners - need to have some assurance that the information they receive about air filters is knowledge based and reliable." (Note: Both Stevan Brown and Jim Rosenthal are Certified Air Filter Specialists - CAFS)
